It’s no secret that we’ve a very pro-Disney family, but my kids have always enjoyed Dora the Explorer. As a mom, I really like Dora as an example for my daughter, because not only is she bilingual and adventurous, she’s also a normal looking little girl.
I had heard a while ago that Dora was getting a makeover, but had put it in the back of my mind until @cecilyk of Uppercase Woman (want to read her less G-rated, but my funnier, opinion of Dora’s makeover? – click HERE) tweeted with a link to this article, which has posted a silhouette of the new Dora.
I’m pretty liberal about characters, and don’t have issues with too many. I may not have even had an issue with this new Dora, if it were a new character. But as a change? Why did Dora have to change? She was a great role model as is. Now, what is this message? That adventurous, normal little girls should grow long hair, lose weight, and wear mini skirts and pointy shoes? And, what happened to backpack?

Oh no! Say it isn’t so! We LOVE Dora here…just the way she is!
