My son had a pacifier habit. I know, I KNOW…. But honestly, it didn’t seem that bad, and I’ve talked to sleep experts who said pacifiers weren’t a huge deal. He only used it at night, and he needed it – my poor little boy. And, by giving him the pacifier at night, mommy and daddy were able to sleep at night. It seemed like win-win.
Then we went to his first dentist appointment, and the dentist told us to help him kick the habit asap. He has a little overbite that we need to improve. I didn’t want to do it that weekend, since I was heading out of town, but we took his pacifier away last Friday. Officially, the pacifier ferry came and took it to some new babies.
My son cried. And cried. And then begged. He didn’t fall asleep until 9:45 pm and then he woke up at 4 am and cried some more. It was painful for everyone, but we couldn’t relent. It’s a week later, and he’s now sleeping without a pacifier!
Now, to get him out of diapers…
