Where I’ve Been…

This isn’t going to be one of those lame, “I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to post” posts.  Although I have been busy, and haven’t posted, so….

Anyway, as typical in the summer, we’ve been super busy.  A few weeks ago, we headed to the lovely city of Newport, RI where I spent many of my college summers working in the gift shop of the Breakers Mansion.  This time, though, we went for a wedding (yes, the same wedding where my dress ripped).

Just a short week later, I headed out solo for a sort-of last minute partial Disney moms reunion trip to  Walt Disney World.

While I really hate flying with my kids (so hard to keep them occupied while sitting for hours), I personally do occasionally enjoy flying on my own.  It’s kind of nice to have that uninterrupted time alone.

After a few short hours (but 10pm at night, as I decided to fly in late) I was seated on the Magical Express.  I was the last one on the bus before it left, and the only one headed to the Beach Club, so I felt pretty bad.  It was a quick ride though, and soon I was at the Beach Club ready to meet my friends (Margaret and Tanya were already there, Anna was staying with her family, and Whitney arrived the next day).

It was a short trip, but the highlights really were filming three videos for the Moms Panel site.  The first video (pictured above) was about the reopening of the Hall of Presidents.  Even if you’ve seen the Hall of Presidents before, I highly recommend that you check it out again.  The accompanying video is so moving – much of the audience was driven to tears (me included).

We also filmed a video about the In Room Celebrations available through the Disney Florist, and another about the Pirates League, which just opened up adjacent to the Pirates of the Caribbean.

To me, one of the best parts of visiting WDW without kids is being able to enjoy the attractions and restaurants that my kids don’t like.  We had a leisurely dinner at the Brown Derby (where the Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake are MUST haves for me), a fun night at Jellyrolls, and lots of rides on the Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and more!

Of course, the absolute best part of this trip was spending time with my moms panel friends (and of course our mascot/BFF Gary) – who I just met in December, but who have become incredibly important to me.  I hope to make this an annual tradition!
