Well, you all know how Tuesday’s attempt at running two miles went. But, I’m not ready to throw in the towel. Today, I took my learnings from Tuesday, plus advice some of you gave me, and went out again.
Today, I double-knotted my shoe laces, wore a wicking fabric shirt (for you Joanne), a pair of running shorts (for you Steph), and thought about it being “me-time” (from Leanne – although admittedly, “me-time” generally involves shopping).
I went basically the same route, except I avoided the construction crew, as they were probably still chuckling over seeing me, red-faced, sweaty, and out of breath walking…
Out the door….
jogging, jogging (to the All American Rejects – Gives You Hell)
Up the hill (thanks to the landscaper, who was strategically working at the top of the hill, I felt I had to make it)
jogging, jogging
Now it’s time to cross the street. Guess what I did while waiting?? I jogged in place. All official, like a real runner. As if to say, I’m so into this running thing I’m not going to let a red light stop me. No sir – I’m going to keep jogging until I can run across the street.
jogging, jogging (now to Natasha Betingfield’s Pocketful of Sunshine)
What exactly is this wicking fabric supposed to wick? I’m sweating.
jogging, resisting the urge to look at my watch, jogging, jogging
If You Seek Amy by Britney Spears comes up. I had NO IDEA what this song meant when I downloaded it.
jogging, hmmm…. now I know why I don’t wear running shorts.
jogging, chafing, jogging, chafing, chafing
I finally glance at my watch as I slow to a walk. Seven minutes!!!
Don’t Stop Believing comes on (the Glee cast edition)
I start jogging again. Ouch, the chafing.
Whyyouwannabringmedown by Kelly Clarkson comes on (I dedicate this song to the entire concept of running).
Walking again. By this point, I’m walking bow-legged, due to the chafing (hey you, I CAN HEAR YOU! I KNOW my legs wouldn’t chafe if they weren’t so fat. By how can I get them toned if I can’t run due to the CHAFING!).
Back home. I ran more than half of the 2+ miles, so I consider it a success.
Off to the mall for better non-chafing shorts at Lululemon (a side note – someone from Lululemon corporate visited my blog Tuesday – they spent a total of 10 seconds – enough time to decide they wanted NO PART of this) and Gold Bond powder.
