So, I signed up for another 1/2 marathon. I had to, because I didn’t have the motivation to run on a regular basis without an end goal. On June 27th, I’ll be running the 13.1 in Boston with Diane.
I’m training a little differently this time. First, I’m following a slightly different program, with more rest than the Higdon plan. I’ll actually do 13 miles a few weeks before the race (with Higdon, my longest run was 11 miles) and then taper. I’m also mixing it up with two yoga sessions per week, to stretch my muscles out between runs, in addition to Your Shape.
While I don’t have a specific time goal, I would like to cut some time off my Princess 1/2 Marathon finish. And, I want to feel better while running. I also had a painful headache that I’d like to avoid this time. I know what I need to do

That’s fantastic Jodi! My friend Andrew (who I ran the 5 miler with yesterday…) wants me to sign up for 13.1 but I’m not sure I’m ready yet… will see how I progress over the next month and make a decision.
Good luck with your training!
I did a half-marathon last year in Nashville and hated it, though I was so proud of myself for finishing. Everyone said I had to do a full marathon next but running just seemed so monotonous to me! So, I signed up for a triathlon that happened 4 months later and that was fun! Really…I learned that I LOVE biking. I borrowed a friend’s bike to train on bc my son’s bike just didn’t cut it. Swimming stunk with people kicking me, etc, but the biking made it worth it. Look into it! You might be surprised.
