Back to School

March 7, 2011

Last week, I wrote about my daughter’s broken arm.  Today, she’s back to school.

On Tuesday of last week, I brought my daughter to Boston’s Children’s Hospital for a consultation with a specialist.  After just a quick visit, it was determined that she needed surgery to insert pins and straighten the arm.  The only problem – there was no operating room available.

So we waited.  And waited.  Children’s Hospital was awesome – they brought by clowns, games, activities, and other things to keep her occupied.  Eventually, she went into surgery, I cried my eyes out, and then greeted her in the recovery room.

After a week home, she was ready to go back today.  And, she was proud as can be with her blue cast.

I have had to hand both of my children over for surgeries, and hands down it was the hardest thing I have ever done. So glad the surgery went well, and so glad kids bounce back so quickly!!
